This is one of 10 paintings commissioned by Rittenhouse Archives for their 2010 Woman of Star Trek card series. This was the compoleted painting that was used for the 10 card subset which was also the only original art used for the set, the rest were photos. The art is done 8x10 on heavy board painted by Acrylic Gouache.

Interesting to note, ALL the original art had to approved by the actresses who played the characters, it was a great honor to hear feedback from these wonderful women. Some of them approved our paintings the 1st time we submitted them for approval, some took 1 or more revisions but all of them did have very useful things to say about the artwork of themselves and quite useful. Let's just say, we learned a lot about painting women from painting these 10 famous beauties!

Good lord. Voyager is hands down my favorite series, before TOS and DS9. And man, you nailed the confident "I'm gonna outwit and kick your ass smirk" of Janeway to the t. NO other captain in the Star Trek series that I've seen has that kind of attitude compared to Janeway. Dang man, excellent work!

Yes, it is very hard to get acrylics to glow. The way we painted this was about 6 -8 layers of paint over a grey primered illustration board. Also, we didn't use acrylic really. It's actually acrylic gouache which is much brighter and you can get far more sharp detail with than acrylic.

It also helps the background is black to give it extra glow.

Lovely. Perhaps it is just me, but I find it very difficult to get lights and colors to really "glow" in acrylic and gouache. This is done beautifully. I shall have to get the card set.
